When the lights came on, Corporal Orwig was placing Liz in a more secure holding cell, deep in the confines of the detention unit.
"It's about time", Orwig breathed, secretly and shamefully uncomfortable in darkness. He gazed up at the luminescence thankfully. Liz, noting his distraction, tried to pull out of his vice-like
grip, dropping her towel in the process.
The corporal yanked hard on her arm, lifting her off of her feet, and tossed her into the cell. "Nice try, sweety", he chuckled, bending to retrieve the towel.
Fast as her namesake, Liz was on her feet and running for the door. Orwig stood, towel in hand, and saw the nubile onslaught rushing toward him. He reached out and slammed his meaty fist on the locking
mechanism. Nothing happened. Liz slammed into his midsection, driving him off balance.
Orwig went down hard, but took most of the impact on his shoulders, spinning and rolling back to his feet. He turned quickly to find Liz standing opposite him, securing her towel in place around her more
enticing regions. He was about to take a step toward her when he noticed the splazer in her hand. Reaching for his belt, he found his own holster empty. His eyes rose slowly back to the weapon.
"I reckoned that door wouldn't work with y'all's power out", she said with a wild grin.
"Then what makes you think that splazer will", Orwig countered defiantly.
"The fact that you ain't movin', for one", she replied, "and because you wasn't anywhere around when all them fireworks started back in your saloon."
"I was standing outside, covering the door", Orwig spat back defensively.
"Sure you was, sweety", Liz chided. "Now, why don't you jes' take off that shirt and toss it over to me."
Orwig stood contemplating his options for several seconds, clearly reluctant to fulfill her request.
"And yer belt, boy", Liz added, "and hurry, unless you'd like to give me yer pants, too."
The corporal grumbled under his breath as he lifted his shirt over his head, but was soon drowned out by the appreciative cat calls from his previous ward.
