EPISODE XXVIII - THE OCEAN'S NOTHING BUT A FISH TOILET

Reed could see the beams of light searching below him and hear the frustration of the security detachment as they hoped to find what was no longer there.  Utilizing a maintenance ladder he had moved quietly up the shaft in relative safety.  The hard part had been scaling the outside of the elevator car once he had escaped through the floor.  Reed had suffered a painful cut to his right hand, making his ascent via ladder somewhat treacherous.  He surmised that a search of the shaft would be forthcoming, but guessed that he still had some time before the would be posse thought to look up.

Grasping the disrupter in his left hand, he began to cut away at the wall of the shaft.  With his knowledge of the ships layout, he was certain of his location and quite satisfied with the results of the day's chaotic events.  Having cut a square eighteen inches in diameter, Reed burned a hole in the center of the of the square and waited for the plate to cool.

He peered through the small opening, noting that the room he'd cut into was unoccupied.  Inserted his index finger into the hole, he pushed the piece of metal from the wall.  With the steel square hanging suspended from his finger, Reed began to feed himself through the hole.  The left arm was followed by his shoulder and head.  Reaching this point, he pulled his right shoulder through, scraping off several layers of skin, and ruining his stylish Space Fleet uniform.  This done, he dropped quietly into the room.

Thousands of wires ran through the closet like room.  Reed smiled darkly as he moved toward the door, cellular disrupter held tightly in his fist.  He placed his palm to the scanning plate next to the door, and held his breath as the door slid open.  He peered out into the corridor to his left, and seeing it clear, stepped out and faced the door directly to his right.  He placed his hand to the scanner, a chuckle escaping him as the door opened.

All eyes turned to regard the disheveled Commander as he stepped onto the bridge.  Reed walked slowly to the command chair, his intense gaze resting on Mr. Schultz who silently returned his stare.

"You are relieved, Mr. Schultz.", Reed said pointedly.

Schultz stood slowly and stepped away from the chair.  "Aye-aye, sir."  (What!?!  What's this? you ask.)
