EPISODE XL - TRIALS OF A MAN NAMED BLANCHE

Reed glowered at the visage of the Wyzenhymer delegate on the display.  "You'll get no such pleasure, Slile.", Reed stated defiantly, spitting the name out as though it were poison.

A dark smile stretched across the Wyzenhymer's humanesque features.  "Ah, Reed", it said in a mocking tone, "so good to see you again."

Reed stepped forward, reached around Schultz's console, and toggled the display switch, cutting off the communication.

Mr. Schultz turned to the Commander.  "Pardon sir", he began, "but why did you do that?"

Reed stared at the blank screen a moment before responding.  "That is Chancellor Slile", he replied, "and there is no point talking to him.  He will try to destroy us regardless."  He looked around at his crew.  "Battle stations, people."

As the crew hurried about, completing their assignments, Mr. Schultz took a moment to speak to the Commander.

"But he is human, sir.  Why would he be working with the Wyzenhymers?'

Reed smirked.  "He's is only half human, Mr. Schultz", he paused, "and half Wyzenhymer."

"A Wyzenhuman"  Schultz exclaimed incredulously, "genetic research clearly shows the dark mutations that can occur when such a combination is exists."

"And Slile is perhaps the darkest mutation of all.", Reed added thoughtfully.

Number Two's temporary replacement, Lt. Schneider, turned to the two senior officers.  "Spam Squadron is standing by", she reported.

Reed nodded.  "Very good, Lieutenant", he replied coolly, "tell them to proceed with Plan Uncle-Zulu."

"Aye-aye, sir.", she said crisply.  The fighters burst out of the docking bay, scattering to their assigned rendezvous points.
